Comebacks and Newcomers in the Indian cricket team

Delhite Sehwag replaced his city-mate Gambhir as the Indian selectors announced the Indian squad for the first 2 tests against Australia from 22nd Feb in Chennai.

harbhajan and Sehwag make a comeback in Indian Cricket TeamShikhar Dhawan scored 63 and Murali Vijay stroked a century in the Irani Trophy match for Rest of India that earned them a call from the National Team. Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan were other 2 inclusions in the squad. Piyush Chawla gave way to Harbhajan Singh as the 3rd spinner in the squad besides Ashwin and Ojha the other 2. After impressing with the art of swing fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar got his first test call as Parvinder Awana was also dropped from the 15 man squad.

Contrasting recent past record of Dhawan and Gambhir helped the two inter-change their roles. Dhawan averages 55.53 in the ongoing season at the first class level with 833 runs under his belt. Gautam Gambhir now replaces Dhawan in the India A side as he would lead the squad against Australia for their Warm Up game on 16th February. Gauty scored his last century 3 years back and in his past 26 games for India he averages 30.2 in the White Uniform.

Gambhir Tweeted: “No sympathies plz, Lookin forward to training n then d india a game. Chin up guys, its time to show some steel. Come on”. “Had my bak to d wall in d past 2, dis is no difrent. Will fight. Very hapy 4 vijay n shikhar. Want India to win @ all costs, wid or widou me”.

Also after a drop from the Indian team, Harbhajan clinched 16 Ranji wickets for Punjab at an average of 32.23 which earned him a spot back.
