The 6th edition of the Indian Premier League not only has a new sponsor PepsiCo but also would see new alternate venues for some of the 9 playing teams. The player auction is scheduled for 3rd February but the scuffling of players and mentors is already underway.

RCB Banglore IPL -6, 2013Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed a new talent in the name of Sandeep Warrier, a seam bowler from Kerala. The one year contract is the reward for the highest Kerala wicket taker. Sandeep was also picked up by BCCI in the fast bowlers academy. Apart from RCB, Mumbai Indians have gone ahead to appoint Anil Kumble as the tem mentor replacing the former South African fast bolwler Shaun Pollock. Anil Kumble has been a former RCB skipper, chief mentor and advisor. The 3rd highest test wicket taker joins Mumbai in season 6 this year. Pune Warriors too have signed the highest Ranji wicket taker Ishwar pandey who plays for Madhya Pradesh. The lanky speedster has 48 wickets off 8 Ranji matches.

Apart from the above movement, Delhi Daredevils are all set to play 2 of their home matches at Raipur. The Chhattisgarh Cricket Asociation was keen to host the IPL matches and so they would now host 2 games for Delhi. The 2 Gujarat grounds of Rajkot and Ahmedabad are the alternative venues for Rajasthan Royals who have their home ground in Jaipur. There will be new names up for grabs when the auction gets underway in a weeks time but Aussie skipper Michael Clarke and left arm spinner Monty Panesar because of their recent performances would be the hot cakes. The 20 overs-a-side 76 match tournament starts from 3rd April before the final is scheduled to take place on 26th May.

Author’s Lol-o-scope: They say the 2014 auction would be in Rupees, What’s the need, the players are bought ‘n’ sold, measure them in Thai Baht instead, like they do there in Thai-land…;)
